Yvette Lalonde is a body-centred counsellor who works from a holistic perspective, integrating a biopsychosocial lens and holds a deep understanding of the impact complex and developmental trauma has on the physical, emotional and spiritual body. She is trained in several movement practices including trauma informed yoga and is the first Movement for Trauma Level 3 practitioner. Read more about Yvette here.

LEVEL ONE INCLUDES: 

  1. An introduction to working with trauma as it presents in the body through experiential activities including partnered and group activities and through embodied experiments.

  2. Exploration of relational and task oriented movement and embodied mindfulness to reactivate the ventral vagal complex to allow for a greater sense of safety and support in your clients bodies.

  3. An overview of the cutting edge neuroscience of trauma including how to adapt the window of tolerance to stress model and polyvagal theory into movement and mindfulness practices for nervous system regulation.

  4. The impact of different types and intensities of movement on fight, flight, freeze, collapse and attach responses.

  5. Tools and strategies for assessing your client’s nervous system by learning to track your own and simple ways to resource a client outside sessions.

  6. Understanding our scope of practice when working with clients' histories of chronic and severe trauma and introduction to holding healthy boundaries with clients to prevent secondary trauma.

  7. The foundations of creating healthier breathing biomechanics in clients through fostering a greater sense of safety internally and externally.
