Purpose and Nature of the Training

Soul in Motion is a depth-oriented, experiential training grounded in Jungian psychology, archetypal psychology, somatic awareness, myth, and mystical traditions.

The work draws inspiration from sources including:

  • C. G. Jung and post-Jungian thinkers

  • Archetypal psychology (e.g., James Hillman)

  • Western and non-Western mythological traditions

  • Christian mystics (such as Meister Eckhart, St. John of the Cross, and others), alongside mystics from other spiritual lineages

  • Symbolic, imaginal, and soul-centered approaches to the psyche

This immersion is not technique-based self-improvement or skills training. It emphasizes inner experience, symbolic meaning, embodiment, and reflection, rather than instruction aimed at specific outcomes.

This immersion is not a introductory course into general Jungian theory and is specifically focused on embodied mysticism integrated with somatic practice.

Invitational Nature of the Work

All practices, reflections, movements, and invitations offered in Soul in Motion are entirely invitational.

Participants are always free to:

  • Modify, pause, or decline any practice

  • Engage at their own pace and depth

  • Observe rather than participate when needed

There is no expectation to share personal material, disclose experiences, or participate beyond one’s own sense of readiness.

What This Training Is and Is Not

This training is:

  • Experiential, reflective, and inwardly focused

  • Concerned with soul, psyche, symbol, image, and meaning

  • Open to spiritual, religious, and imaginal language

  • Exploratory rather than directive

This training is not:

  • Psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment

  • Clinical training or preparation for professional licensure

  • Religious instruction, catechesis, or spiritual direction

  • A fitness, dance, or movement technique class

  • A promise of healing, transformation, or guaranteed results

Spiritual and Religious Content

Participants should be aware that:

  • The training engages mystical and religious material, including Christian mysticism, as part of Jung’s psychological and symbolic sources

  • These materials are presented phenomenologically and psychologically, not devotionally

  • No belief, faith commitment, or religious identification is required

  • Participants are invited to relate to all material symbolically, imaginatively, or personally, according to their own worldview

If engagement with Christian mystics or religious language — even in a symbolic or psychological context — feels uncomfortable or incompatible with your values, this training may not be a good fit.

Emotional and Psychological Considerations

Because this work engages depth psychology and embodied inner experience:

  • Strong emotions, images, or memories may arise

  • Participants are responsible for their own self-care, pacing, and boundaries

  • The facilitator does not diagnose, treat, or provide psychotherapy

If you are currently experiencing acute psychological distress or instability, you are encouraged to consult a qualified mental health professional before participating.
